I have literally just finished this book called A Separate Peace by John Knowles this morning. It was a book I had to read for school, so I had to read it pretty quick. I was very surprised by how interesting it was since historical fiction is usually not my cup of tea, especially World War II. I think what made it interesting was trying to figure out if the main character’s, Gene’s, best friend was a actual character in the story or a figment of Gene’s imagination. And I was probably not supposed to do this, but I spent a large chuck of time trying to figure out if one of the characters was gay. It’s a classic novel so that probably was not supposed to be the focus, but there was only one female character, and she was hardly mentioned. The story does take place at a boarding school, so there probably would only be boys there, but…. I’m going to let you question that if you have read this book or are thinking about reading this book. I honestly don’t know whether to give this a good review or a negative one. This is honestly going to have to be based on personal taste, and in all honesty, I probably was not paying attention to what the story was actually trying to tell me, but I will tell you that there was a surprise ending that I did not see coming.
If there is a particular book that you would like me to read and see my take on, just mention it in the comments, and I will try my very best to get around to reading it. Right now, my schedule is so messed up because of school and the fact that none of my electronics were working over spring break, and I had no way of going anywhere. I will try to get to a regular schedule, but I am a senior in high school, and it is kicking my butt right now.
